Open Positions:

Production Supervisor(Rhode Island)

Summary:  Supervises all shift employees in assigned departments, ensures that production goals are met, and complies with all safety, quality, maintenance and housekeeping standards.  Reports directly to the General Manager and has frequent communications with Corporate leadership.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedules and supervises all personnel and operations in assigned department(s).  Approx. 30 – 40 employees.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.  Gives input for improvement.
  • Manages labor and material costs.
  • Reports any process and equipment problems to Maintenance Department and schedules down time to customer needs.
  • Schedules labor to ensure production goals are met.
  • Interviews, hires, arranges training, conducts timely performance evaluations, disciplines and terminates employees in coordination with the General Manager and Human Resources personnel.
  • Ensures that established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed.
  • Identifies problem areas and coordinates resources to areas of need and develops solutions.
  • Additional duties as required.

 

Education / Experience / Training:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of direct leadership experience in manufacturing.
  • Proactive, hands on management style.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, time management and problem solving skills.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to motivate and work side by side with employees to perform to the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.  Desire to work toward promotion to higher levels within the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, and comfortable learning new technology. 

Operations Manager (Rhode Island)

Summary:  Greystone is seeking an Operations Manager for its Lincoln, Rhode Island machining plant.  The qualified candidate must have direct manufacturing experience in a leadership role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct day to day manufacturing to achieve established production goals.
  • Lead an operations team of 120 employees to continuously improve operating efficiencies.
  • Manage operating costs to established budgets; Labor to sales ratio critical.
  • Coordinate hiring and staffing requirements including vacations, attendance and employee morale.
  • Lead operator training and compliance program.
  • Lead safety initiatives to achieve establishes goals.
  • Lead SPC, layered audits and daily work procedures to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities to ensure machine up-time goals are met.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager, Second Operations Manager and Quality Manager to maximize plant safety, quality, efficiency and profitability.

Quality

  • Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with company quality policy and other plant quality certifications.
  • Lead troubleshooting and problem-solving initiatives with machinists, quality engineering, and other support functions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement.

Scheduling

  • Coordinate team efforts to meet customer demand on a daily basis.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement.

Cost Management

  • Monitor consumable supply usage, report issues to plant management, and make recommendations for new products.
  • Manage consumable supplies to budget.
  • Manage overtime to budget.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Work independently to supervise and direct associates in assigned team.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Conduct daily meetings with team to review goals and shift change instructions.
  • Work independently to meet delivery schedules; seeks help when additional resources are required.
  • Develop key interdepartmental relationships with engineering, quality assurance, sales and customers to effectively expedite orders to satisfy the company’s commitment to 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and complete within required timeline.
  • Read, understand, and develop operational reports, schedules, and other reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate must have a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, mechanical preferred.
  • 5+ years’ leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably in machine turning.
  • Automotive Industry and quality systems experience preferred.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Project management experience.
  • Basic computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office and ADP time/attendance software.

Market Manager (Rhode Island)

Summary: The Market Manager will be involved in all facets of the sales process, including prospecting, relationship development, value determination through problem/need identification, quoting and account management.  The person will be expected to be able to discuss commercial issues as well as some technical issues and solutions with engineering.  The person will help develop product & market strategies and in identifying opportunities for Greystone to develop differentiated products.  This position is based in our Lincoln, Rhode Island machining plant and reports to the Vice President of Sales and Strategy.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor degree, preferably in engineering, science or other technical discipline.
  • Sales budgeting and cost analysis skills required.
  • Desire to solve problems working with customers and internal suppliers are essential.
  • Previous business to business sales experience desired.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify potential customers and develop new business.
  • Assess potential markets and product niches to define profitable growth opportunities.
  • Interact with Executive Management in strategic planning sessions.
  • Face-to-face interaction with all levels of customer staff, from Design, Engineering and Purchasing to Executives.
  • Position requires 40% travel within the continental United States and Mexico (Company paid).

Machine Operator (Rhode Island)

Summary: We have a great opportunity for a Machine Operator with Induplate, our North Providence, Rhode Island plating plant. Induplate is conveniently located just off Route 44, approximately 2 miles from Rt. 295.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Loading and unloading 1lb and 2lb components into a fixture.
  • Light mechanical line maintenance and general line operation.
  • Work in a safe and conscientious manner.

Machinist (Rhode Island)

Summary: Tends metal fabricating screw machines and conventional turn machines such as Hydromat, Acme, Tornos, Schutte, Royal Master Grinding and Index multi-spindle machines and associated support equipment such as tool grinders, presses, leak testers, coiners, and inspection equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 8 hr shift during which activities require the operator to be in the standing position 80% of the time period.
  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, template or manufacturing data sheets.
  • Reads and understands all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment.
  • Works with safety features in place at all times.
  • Reads and understands all gauging procedures/requirements for jobs being manufactured.
  • Pushes button(s) or depresses pedal to activate machine.
  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and quality of output.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, tool sharpening, or work piece replacement.
  • Removes chips and bar ends from machine while push a cart weighting 50+ lbs.
  • Adds oil to machine using pump truck and/or 5 gallon pails.
  • Loads machine with 12ft bar stock several times per shift per machine, while running a minimum of 2 machines; standard is 3 machines.
  • Sets up machine, stacks, marks, packs and transports finished work pieces (10-15lbs).
  • Additional duties as required.
  • Setup experience preferred.

 Education / Experience / Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to three months job training; safety training in proper handling of equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Maintenance Technician (Rhode Island)

Summary: Greystone has an immediate new opportunity for a talented MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN. This individual will install, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and physical plant systems.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains physical plant systems.
  • Installs, programs or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as programmable controllers.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as a lathe, grinder, drill and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures and tools.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions and other wooden structures.

 Education / Experience / Training:

  • High school diploma, trade or technical school certification or equivalent.
  • 3 to 6 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, pump repair, and hydraulic/electric/mechanical systems is required.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundaments of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, electrical diagrams, PLC wiring diagrams, and manufacture equipment manuals.
  • Valid driver’s license.  Certified in fork lift operations.
  • Experience with Swiss screw and/or rotary transfer machines highly desirable.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, and taste or smell.
