Zinc Nickel Plating Process:
Zinc Nickel is deposited through an advanced electroplating process similar to Zinc, that is known for its exceptional corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance is driven by plating thickness and Nickel content, which is measured as a percentage. Specifications typically call for a Nickel content ranging from 5-15% or 10-15%, depending on specific corrosion requirements. The higher the Nickel content, the more robust the corrosion protection.
One distinctive feature of Zn-Ni plating is its initial appearance, which naturally deposits in a grey-purple color. The coating can show some iridescence when a chromate is subsequently applied. This unique alloy composition, combined with its corrosion-resistant properties, makes Zn-Ni plating the preferred choice for critical components.
